An exciting opportunity has arisen for a bilingual Healthier You Educator to join our Healthier You Programme Team, an important role in which you will be responsible for powering participants to change their lifestyle behaviours. Applicants should reside in Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire.
Do you have experience in facilitating group training and workshops?
The thought of helping people take control of their health? If so, then this job could be for you. Essentially you will be Delivering group-based education sessions for a minimum of 90 minutes to a maximum of 15 participants. The objective being to support participants to lose weight, improve their diet and increase levels of physical activity.
A typical day will include: Delivering the Healthier You curriculum to participants in an area, ensuring participants achieve and experience the right learning outcomes Facilitating group sessions effectively and ensuring the required number are delivered each month. Working as part of a team to effectively deliver the Healthier You sessions according to the curriculum and using the appropriate resources. Managing group dynamics and supporting collaborative working Carrying out self-evaluation after delivery of every Healthier You education course Participating in the Healthier You Training and Quality Development Framework.
About you: You must have previous experience of facilitating group training and workshops, ideally in preventative health, public health or health awareness. You must have some knowledge and awareness of and an interest in diabetes.
You must have effective communication skills: written and verbal; outstanding training, educational and presentation skills; being able to develop a good rapport with participants; ability to demonstrate respect and value the contribution of others as trainers, educators or participants.
You must be able to motivate and encourage others and act as a champion to support the improvement of their health and wellbeing; have the ability to act as a team player and to work within a group setting
You must demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal development with the ability to self-evaluate activities and accept, give and build on feedback.
You must be able to abide by confidentiality at all times It would be highly desirable if you are a registered healthcare professional, employed by a healthcare organisation or currently providing diabetes care; if you possess a relevant City and Guilds Level 3 Health Trainer or equivalent NVQ and/or relevant Public Health qualifications i.e. Association for Nutrition and Exercise Professionals Reps Level 3 or 4.
You must speak one of the following languages Gujarati, Punjabi, Hindi or Urdu. Also you need to have a driving licence and own your own transport.
